Request for proposal: Civil works for Nyanas and Gulf Water Schemes in Kisumu County

Kenya Integrated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (KIWASH) Project is a five-year initiative of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) implemented by DAI Global LLC. Its primary goal is to improve the lives and health of Kenyan citizens in nine counties (Busia, Kakamega, Kisumu, Kitui, Makueni, Migori, Nairobi, Nyamira and Siaya) through the development and management of sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services.

DAI Global LLC has collaborated with Nyanas Water and Sanitation Company (NWSC) and Gulf Water & Sanitation Company (GWSC) to implement the Nyakach Water Scheme and Nyahera Mkendwa Water Scheme respectively under the two separate utilities in Kisumu County. Eligible civil works contractors, registered by the National Construction Authority of Kenya (NCA- Water Works Category 1 to 7) are requested to submit proposals to bid for the two independent projects.

The details of the two projects are as follows:

Project 1: The scope of the project under the Nyanas: Nyakach Water Scheme Project includes:

  • Laying of Kahawa line, OD110mm diameter, 4900 m
  • Laying of Lower Sondu line OD90mm diameter, 3150 m
  • Construction of 6500m3/d inlet chamber at the treatment works
  • Construction of 5 water kiosks
  • Installation of 2 zonal water meters

     Nyanas: Nyakach Water Scheme Project documents

 Project 2: The scope of the project under the Gulf: Nyahera Mkendwa Water Scheme Project includes:

  • Laying of rising main, 75 mm diameter, 1325 m
  • Laying of Bar II line 50 mm diameter, 2005 m
  • Laying of Bar Union line 50 mm diameter, 280 m
  • Laying of Riat line 100 mm diameter, 3465 m
  • Construction of 1No spring box for Orinde spring
  • Construction of 4 water kiosks
  • Installation of 1 bulk water meter.
  • Construction of 50m3 underground water tank/sump

     Gulf Nyahera Mkendwa Water Scheme Project documents

Modification to tender documents for the Nyanas and Nyahera project respectively will be issued to all bidders before the close of questions and answer session. Only bidders who attended the mandatory site visits for the respective projects are eligible to submit their proposals.

  • Deadline for receipt of questions- August 28, 2018 12:00 noon
  • Deadline for answering of questions- September 4, 2018 12:00 noon
  • Deadline for receipt of proposals- September 9, 2018 12:00 midnight
